Matthew Emil Brown

Brown, Matthew "Sweet Lou" OREGON/MADISON-Matthew "Sweet Lou" Brown, age 40, devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015. He was born on Sept. 21, 1974, in Newport News, Va., the son of Mary Ellen Crawford and Fred Brown. Matt graduated from La Follette High School. He married Shannon (Tempel) Brown on July 18, 1998. Matt worked at Badger Sheet Metal for many years and was most recently employed with Madison Sheet Metal and was a welding instructor at MATC-Madison. He loved fishing, hunting and cars, but most of all he loved his family and friends. Matt was a talented man who could create anything out of any materials including stainless steel, with his hands and his inventive mind. He was a man who would help anyone with anything at any time. Matt is survived by his wife, Shannon; children, Molly, Nick and Sammy; mother, Mary Ellen; dad, Larry Benike; father, Fred; father-in-law, Gene Tempel, brothers, Jake (Trish) Brown and Brad (Robin) Benike; brothers-in-law, Jason, Gene (Melissa) and Brad Tempel; grandmother, Shirley Crawford; and many nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Robert Crawford and Kenneth Brown; grandmothers, Dolores Brown and Angeline Benike; and mother-in-law, Becky Tempel. A Celebration of Matt's Life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May, 12, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
