Obituary
Duhr, Kristi Jean Jan (Voss)
MARSHALL-Kristi Jean Jan (Voss) Duhr, age 55, of Marshall, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, May 24, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones, known as "Team Kristi". She was born on June 20, 1959, in Madison, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Acker) Voss. Kristi graduated from Middleton High School in 1977 and received an Associate's Degree in Hospitality Management from Madison Area Technical College in 1986. She was general manager with Country Kitchen for over ten years. She then went on to Evans Industrial Communications as controller for nearly a decade. Born with scoliosis, Kristi was told at a young age that she would require a wheelchair by the age of 30. Undeterred, she played fast pitch softball, competed in tug of war, ran relay in track, excelled in gymnastics, and never needed a wheelchair. Although the challenge of severe scoliosis was always present in her life, Kristi never complained, she lived an active life and raised two wonderful sons. For nearly 20 years she organized a group pilgrimage to Country Fest in Cadott, where many lasting memories were made. Kristi enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, nature and was an avid Packers fan. She loved hosting the holidays for family and everyone she considered as family. Kristi's favorite quote was "I learn something new every day". At heart, she was a lifelong learner and mentor to others. Kristi loved what was true and real in her reading, studies and entertainment. In Kristi's final days she shared with her family that "God blessed me with loving parents, grandparents, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Last, but top of my blessings, two beautiful and healthy grandchildren, and two wonderful sons that are kind, caring and honest. Through the journey of cancer, angels have surrounded me, guiding me. Strong, when weak." Kristi is survived by her sons, Dylan (Coni) Duhr and Bronson Duhr (Kara Ripp) both of Middleton; grandchildren, Skylar Duhr and Austin Duhr; brothers, Bob Voss (JoAnn Smiarowki) of Fla., and Rod (Rita) Voss of Waunakee; sister, Annie Voss of Middleton; special friend, Tom Duhr and his son, Eric Duhr; nieces and nephews; and many close friends whom she considered family. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 5 p.m., on Friday, May 29, 2015, with the Rev. Steve Zwettler presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and again on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff who offered exceptional care for Kristi. From all of us on team Kristi, "You are now our angel." There are so many memories I shared with my close friend Kristi. Anyone that knew Kristi would know that she was the kindest, most loving and lovable person you would ever know. She was such a loyal friend in good times and in bad. Kristi was as beautiful in the inside as she was on the outside. I can't say enough about Kristi and how special she was to me. I am so sad that we lost our loving friend so soon, but am grateful for the time Kristi was a part of my life. I have so much LOVE and Fantastic Memories to hold onto until we meet again, my Dear Angel Friend in Heaven.
My deepest sympathy to all of Kristi's friends and family. Debbie Meier

I'm sorry you are mourning the loss of Kristi. I personally love Jesus' promise of a resurrection found at John 5:28. I have also been comforted by jw.org along with many others around the world that have experienced similar difficulties. Please visit that site for beautiful comfort from the scriptures. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Kristi was one of my favorites from the instant we met in 5th grade. We played together for many years and grew apart later in High School (boyfriends I imagine). She was a dare devil - a starter - a doer. Someone who didn't know the meaning of being bored. Where she went, there was fun to be had. I did my best to be where she was as often as I could.
I regret losing touch - very much. It reminds me of something I heard not long ago, - we're none of us promised tomorrow. If you want to reach out to someone - do it now. I wish I had.
My prayers and condolences to her wonderful family. Janice

I was saddened to receive the news of Kristi's battle with cancer and final passing. She was one of my best friends at Middleton High School. We had so many fun sleep overs with Deb and Rita-- solving all the problems of our teen years. I remember swimming in the pool with the slide in the backyard of her amazing home. She took me horseback riding at the Murphy's and of course she flew like the wind, while I fell off the horse. I was her maid of honor and in her life through the birth of her 2 boys (whom she adored). She and Kendall set me up on a blind date with Steve Rice and we were double daters through the rest of high school. I have not kept up with Kristi in recent years as I moved to Colorado just after college. Many fond memories make me smile when I think of her, though. We now know that she is at peace and out of pain. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and close friends for healing and acceptance of our Lord's plan. I look forward to seeing her again.
