Obituary
DeBraal, Jeanne G.
COTTAGE GROVE-Jeanne G. DeBraal, loving wife, caring mother and good friend, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at AgraceHospice Care. She was 80 years old. Those of us lucky enough to have known her have truly been blessed. She was born on March 28, 1935, in Durand, the second daughter of Robert and Doris (Walters) Greer. Jeanne grew up in Appleton where she practiced her love of nature through her active participation in the Girl Scouts. She showed her love of music by joining the high school and church choir. After she graduated in 1953 from Appleton High School she continued to raise her voice to the Lord by being a part of the UW-Oshkosh choir until she received her degree in education in 1957. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert DeBraal in Appleton on Aug. 3, 1957. Jeanne worked for the Monona school system from 1957 until 1960 when she took time off to be a stay at home mom to raise her three children. She later became a substitute teacher. In the mid-1980's until recently, Jeanne enjoyed working for the East Madison/Monona Coalition of the Aging. Jeanne loved her church, and was active in many women's groups, Bible studies, and committees of the Monona United Methodist Church, where she and Bob have been members for over 50 years. Most of all, she loved singing for the church choir. Jeanne was all about family and never let one of her children's or grandchildren's soccer games, dancing recitals, concerts, musicals, or graduations pass by without her in attendance. She loved the outdoors, camping, watching birds, tending flowers, and canoeing on a quiet northern lake. She will be sadly missed. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Daniel (Kay) DeBraal, Jane (Glen) Fuller and Karen (Dale) Ballweg; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Robert) Webb; brother, Robert (Diane) Greer; special friends Joe and Marge Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Kevin DeBraal. A memorial service will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Rd., Monona, at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 15, 2015, with the Rev. Brad Van Fossen presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monona United Methodist Church. Thank you to St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Unit 4-East nursing team for their excellent care. Also thank you to Agrace HospiceCare for their support and care of Jeanne and her family. Jeanne was one of two wonderful sisters-in-law and I felt blessed to have her for a sister -in-law. . She kept us up on her branch of the Greer family, came to visit, invited us to share her cabin and home. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. She had a servants spirit-always trying to take care of others. She baked countless pies for charity, shared her recipes with me, her nieces and even a grand niece. I can't think of a time when she was selfish or thoughtless. She haed a very strong faith and leaned on it in every trial. She was such a good role model for me. She was always welcoming to me and always made me feel comfortable. I can't imagine not hearing her voice or seeing her smile again. She has left a huge hole in my heart which will always be reserved for her.

I will greatly miss my wonder Aunt Jeanne. She always brought a smile and a sympathetic ear. I have fond memories of her cooking fish we caught in the lake, of laughing at life's crazy developments, and of commenting on so many of my FB posts. She was a wonderful, warm woman who brought joy to so many. I'm sorry I can't be at the service, but my heart will be with my cousins, Uncle Bob, and all who gather to celebrate this beautiful life.
