Owens, Randy Paul
OREGON/MADISON – Randy Paul Owens, age 67, of Madison, formerly of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on Feb. 7, 1948, in Madison, the son of Paul E. and Joyce E. (Swann) Owens. Randy married Janey Miller on April 6, 1979, in Madison. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968 to1974. Randy worked for the City of Fitchburg Water Department from July 1, 1969, until his retirement on Feb. 7, 2005. He was a member of the Oregon Masonic Lodge No. 151 F & A.M., American Legion Post No. 487 in Cable, Wis., and was a union steward for the Teamster's Local No. 695 in Madison. Randy loved volunteering at the VFW Post No. 7591 omelet breakfasts, fishing and picking blueberries near his cabin in Canada and spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin. Randy is survived by his wife, Janey; brother, Mark (Ginny) Owens; sisters, Julie (Peter) Amakobe and Becky (Raffi) Mesdjian; brothers-in-law, Herbert (Elaine) Miller, Donnie (Betty) Miller and Buddy Miller; his aunt, Mary Owens; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Joyce Owens. A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held at the VFW POST No. 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., on Sunday, May 10, 2015. There will be a private ceremony and burial for the immediate family. We would like to say a special "thank you" to Buddy, the friends and staff at the Jade Monkey, VFW Post No. 7591, and all of our family and friends for their prayers, love and support. Randy was an astounding person and made friends wherever he went. Everyone who met Randy loved Randy. He fought a courageous battle against cancer in his last few months; eventually, as he said, "Accepting the cards dealt to him". Randy we will see you in heaven.
