Obituary

OREGON –Margaret A. Erfurth, age 83, of Oregon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at St. Mary's Care Center, Madison. She was born on March 31, 1932, in Madison, the daughter of Hjerman & Ada (Johnson) Dvergedal. She married Ronald L. Erfurth on June 3, 1950, in Stoughton. Margaret has been a longtime resident of Oregon. She was the bookkeeper for Erfurth Body Shop for 62 years. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of the Altar Guild. Additionally, she was a member for over 50 years of The Eastern Star Chapter No.49, the Daughters of The Nile, Oregon Historical Society, Elks Club, and Zor Shrine Ladies. In her spare time she played saxophone for the Oregon Community Band, loved trips to Door County, shopping anytime and anywhere, Ice Cream Sundaes, her Friday night fish fry group, and Parades. But most of all, she loved being with her family and many friends. Margaret is survived by her children, Dennis (Sherry Hill) Erfurth, Luann Smith, Dean Erfurth, and Kay (Roger) Utzig; special daughter-in-law, Kim Erfurth; grandchildren, Chantel (Dr. William) Davies, Chate-laine (Ben) Eustice, Angela (Jonathan Ivan) Erfurth, Christopher (Kristen) Erfuth, Courtney (Adam) Barth, Krysia (Rogel) Roquemore and Clayton (Kendra Zimmerman) Utzig; great-grandchildren, Kat and Smith Davies, Levin, Poette and Olive Eustice, Lily, Nolan and Ella Erfurth, Trae and Dezi Roquemore; other relatives and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 19, 2006 (the same date as her death), son-in-law, Craig Smith; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Erfurth. A Funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Noon, at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, with the Rev. Paul Marquart presiding. Burial will be held in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. She was a sophisticated and elegant mother, who had a streak of stubborn Norwegian in her. She fought a hard battle with a heart condition until her final days, and tried to hang on to see two more great-grandchildren enter into this world and to see another grandchild's wedding, but lost the battle. Mom was our queen and role model in all aspects of her children's lives. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There wasn't a school event of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she would miss. A special thank you to the staff at St. Mary's Care Center, Madison. Memorials may be directed to the Eastern Star or St. John's Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
