OREGON/MILWAUKEE – Jean A. (nee Pierce) Mavis, died on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was born in Markesan, Wis., on April 22, 1922, to Herbert L. and Dorothy Pierce. Beloved wife of Robert A. Mavis who passed away on Nov. 29, 2004; dear mother of James (Cara), Dianne (Michael) Quinn, Barbara Walterman and John (Rhonda) Mavis; loving grandmother of Tyler Mavis, Michael (Sharon) Quinn, Amy (Sean) Meenan, David (fiancee’ Lori Lanzilotti Harrington) Quinn, Elizabeth Braun, Erin Walterman, James Huard and Danielle (Viliamu) Amato; great-grandmother of Steven Quinn, Mackenzie Quinn, Kaitlin and Kelsey Meenan, Nathan, Niko and Ava Amato; and other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Donald R. (Jean) Pierce. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in education and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Jean was a Milwaukee Public Schools substitute teacher for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Greenfield, Wis. and a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Milwaukee, Wis. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and also at ARLINGTON PARK CEMETERY CHAPEL, 4001 S. 27th St., Greenfield, Wis., from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, with burial to follow. To the Mavis Family. I am sorry for your loss. Knowing both of your parents was a joy and even some of the family members. I knew the Mavis family from Memorial United Methodist Church and being a neighbor for many years. I have fond memories of both of your parents.
