Haack, Pauline
MADISON-Pauline (Arnberger) Haack, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. She was born on March 19, 1917, the daughter of Karl and Juliana (Heider) Arnberger in Pierce, Nebr. While working at the Chocolate Shop, she met Frank Haack, an over-the-road truck driver. They were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Madison on Nov. 4, 1941. Two weeks after their 60th wedding anniversary Frank died of a heart attack on Nov. 19, 2001. Pauline retired from Ray-O-Vac in 1979. She loved playing cards, bowling and making quilts. Pauline is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Fillhouer of Janesville and Donna (Larry) Rush of Black Earth; five grandchildren, Scott (Kristin) Fillhouer of Janesville, Timothy (Susan) Rush of New Berlin, Tanya (Tony) Thorson of Mequon, Tamara (Mike) Haack of Cross Plains and Travis (Janice) Rush of Germantown; 13 great-grandchildren, Mikenna and Abbey Fillhouer, Lauren, Rachel and Brandon Rush, Calista and Avaline Thorson, Serena, Amber and Addison Haack and Tessa, Audrey and Colin Rush; sister-in-law, Katie Haack of Deerfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Kathleen (John) Thurow; two brothers, Karl and Frank; six sisters, Juliana, Mary, Anastasia, Adelaide, Anna and Genevieve; and two sons-in-law, John Fillhouer of Janesville and John Thurow of Arkdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. A special thanks to Pauline's good neighbors, Bernie and Marcia Haskins who helped mom after dad died, and to Marion Baltes who took mom to church and grocery shopping. We also want to thank Jeff and the staffs of Chamomile Assisted Living and Four Winds Manor in Verona for their wonderful care and patience.
