Iris Ann Cooley
July 09, 1952 - April 01, 2015
Obituary
OREGON - Iris Cooley (Byom) (Ibach), age 62, of Oregon, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at UW Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on Saturday, March 28, 2015. She was surrounded by family and friends.
She loved her career as a speech and language teacher. Iris was very dedicated to her students and enjoyed creating innovative ways for them to learn. She taught in Brodhead and most recently in Cambridge, retiring in 2008.
Her passions in life were horseback riding and camping with her horses and friends. She dearly loved her dog and cat and often took them horse-camping with her. Iris enjoyed dancing, looking for every opportunity to get on the dance floor. We will all miss her zest for life, sense of adventure and her kind, compassionate soul. She was the type of person who would try to help you out whether you were a longtime friend or a new acquaintance. She will be greatly missed.
Iris leaves behind a brother, Gordon Byom; a very special aunt, Violet Monroe; and a cousin, Bonnie (Art) Davey; along with other relatives, her beloved animals, and scores of friends from every facet of her life.
There will be a celebration of Iris’ life at a later date.

First I wish to pass on my blessings to Iris' family. I am treasure of Town of Rutland and that is how I know her. We would only visit one time per year at tax time, but it was like a friendship and not a business relationship. I am sorry for your loss.
Next, I do have a bit of business on Iris' part. Could someone please contact me. She owes nothing, it is something else of importance. Kim Sime. My info is on the Town of Rutland website.
Sorry for putting this here, but I did not know how else to contact her family. Blessings to all.

I met Iris a few years ago when I was told that she may have extra barn space available to store my boat for the winter. From the moment I met her we became "old friends". Iris had that loving personality that made me feel like I had known her forever. Each spring and fall we quickly got the business of boat storage out of the way so we could enjoy some quality time catching up with each others lives. May God bless all who knew and will miss Iris.
