Obituary

Hoernke, Craig MOUNT HOREB – Craig Hoernke, age 47, of Mount Horeb, Wis., passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, after an extended illness. We lost a very talented and gifted man. He was a true craftsman. He was an estimator for his father's business, Middleton Insulation Systems. Previously, Craig was a project manager for Engineered Construction and KSW Construction. His dad not only lost his son, but his best friend and a very valuable employee. From the moment Craig strapped on his high school graduation gift of a tool belt, he seemed to know his hands would build his future. He had extensive knowledge of the building industry. He had a very big heart and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed spending time with Mindy, his best friend and fiancée. They had many wonderful adventures traveling near and far with their dogs. He beamed while watching his daughter play high school basketball in AAU, high school, and in college. He enjoyed watching his stepson, Justin, play softball; he even umpired for different teams. He enjoyed watching Mindy's daughters, Ashley and Katie, play fast pitch softball; he loved to play pool and darts. He loved to go snowmobiling with Mindy. He was an avid Badger football and basketball fan along with the Packers. He enjoyed going to his cousin, Lance and Pam's cottage in Tomah. He touched so many lives with his big smile and his quick wit. He made many friends at his jobs, the Rustic Tavern, Licari's Tavern, the Nevermind Bar, and the Whatever Bar. He loved to cherish his family and his dogs. Craig is survived by his daughter, Jamie; stepson, Justin; mother, Jan; father, Neil (Sharon); step-mom, Sue; his two brothers, Marc (Gretchen)and Nick (Christine); nephew, Noah; nieces, Grace and Emma; Mindy's parents, Bob and Kathy Hughes; Mindy's daughters, Ashley (Chris) and Katie (Curtis); and his special cousin, Lance (Pam). He was preceded in death by his grandparents. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and staff at the UW Hospital for all of Craig's care in the past year. You where the first friend I made when we moved to Madison in 1975. We were only 8 but we did enough then to create memories forever. the fun and trouble we got into on Mooreland Rd. can never be duplicated. You will be missed and always remembered. Chris Gould
