DeYoung, Julia Ann "Jann" Mann MADISON-Julia Ann "Jann" Mann DeYoung, age 87, of Madison, Wis./Pinckneyville, lll. passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Heritage Senior Living Monona, Wis. She was born on October 7, 1927, in Pinckneyville, Ill., the daughter of Bernard and Magdalen (Ruppert) Mann. Julia graduated from Pinckneyville High School and attended Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. After teaching physical education for a year, she continued her education at University of Wisconsin-Madison working on a Master's Degree in Dance. While in Madison she met Eugene "Gene" DeYoung at a university dance. They were married on January 27, 1951 at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, IL. For 30+ years, Julia was a homemaker and successfully raised nine children. In addition, she worked at Van Holton Canning Company in Waterloo, WI and Waterloo Shoe Factory. She also worked as a pharmacy clerk, a food service worker for Madison Metropolitan School District and delivered newspapers for her son Larry. At age 66, Julia started her final career as a commercial property owner. In her free time, she volunteered her services as a Girl Scout camp counselor, as a member of the Decorating Committee at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison, WI and as a cuddler for the Cuddle Program at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. Julia was a member of the St. Joseph Altar Sodality in Waterloo, WI and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her children, Yvonne Marie DeYoung, Dianne Louise DeYoung (Larry) Gaertner , Daniel Owen (Georgette) DeYoung, Richard Eugene (Barbara) DeYoung, Lawrence William DeYoung, James Edward (Joanne) DeYoung, David Phillip (Gail) DeYoung, Thomas Anthony DeYoung and Joseph Michael (Juli) DeYoung; grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer (Christopher), Maxcine, Kawanza (Darren), Rebecca, Elizabeth, Mack (Hannah), Marci, Leah, Katherine "Katie", Sarah and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Lily, Zaria, Olive, Opal and Zoey; sister, Jacinta "Mary Agnes" Mann; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mann; aunt, Margaret "Margie" Ruppert; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband; siblings, Thomas (Billie) Mann, Cecelia (Arthur) McGavin, Charles (Janice) (Jo Ellen) Mann, and Joseph Mann; and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, WI, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., and at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, WI, on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church at 11 a.m., with Father Randy Budnar and Monsignor Gerard Healy presiding. On Saturday, May 2, 2015, a visitation will be held at ST. BRUNO CATHOLIC CHURCH CHAPEL, 204 N. Gordon St, Pinckneyville, Ill., from noon until the time of the service. A prayer service will be held at the church chapel at 1 p.m., with Father Augustine Ibezimako presiding. Burial will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill., following the prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Senior Living Music and Memory Program, Monona, WI or to Society of St. Vincent DePaul, Madison, WI. Thank you to the angels at the Heritage Senior Living Memory Care (both current and former staff on the H-9 wing) and Agrace HospiceCare for the loving care and compassion they showed to our mother during her stay at the memory care center.
