Obituary

MONONA – Ralph Schweppe, age 94, of Monona, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.  He was born on Feb. 1, 1921, in Madison, the son of Norbert and Elizabeth (Uselman) Schweppe.  Ralph married Cleo "Pat" Davis-Brandt on Sept. 30, 1950.  He grew up on the East side of Madison and graduated from East High School.  Ralph served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 during World War II in the Pacific Theatre in the Soloman Islands.  He worked for UW-Madison as a carpenter until his retirement.  Ralph was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed trapping, hunting, gardening, and was especially fond of bird watching, and his dogs.  Ralph is survived by his son, Richard (Anne) Brandt, daughters-in-law, Pat Brandt, Deanna Brandt and Lynn Brandt-Rebuck; a brother-in-law, Don Borland; grandchildren, Julie (Joe) Terrazzino, Alana Grison, Dwight (Irene) Brandt, Philip "Flip" (Colette) Brandt, Hope (Brian) Anderson, Heather (Michael) Foss, Toni Brandt, Victoria (Scott) Zagrodnik, Ted (Amy) Brandt and Greg (Kari) Brandt; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo; sons, James and Philip Brandt; a granddaughter, Yvette Brandt; sisters, Genevieve, Grace, Caryl and Mary; and a brother, George.  Memorial services will be held at LIGHTHOUSE OF SUN PRAIRIE, 222 South Bristol St., Sun Prairie, at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, April 27, 2015.  Visitation will be held at the LIGHTHOUSE from 9 a.m. until time of the service on Monday.  Private burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery.  Memorials may be sent to Council of the Blind or your favorite charity in Ralph's name.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. My sympathies to your family. I am Kathryn Ganser Brechtl's daughter. Mom was Genevieve's daughter and I so remember going to the reunions years ago. Always fun! Mom just passed away on Easter Sunday morning so now the cousins are having fun. Norbert and Elizabeth were Mom's god parents, I believe, so have fond memories of visiting at their home. How sad to lose a loved one no matter the age. We know that your dear one was loved and will be missed. There is one thing that will bring the greatest comfort to you. God has promised mankind this. "Death will be brought to nothing", according to 1Corinthians 15:26. God has made arrangements to remove sickness and death away from all. (Revelation 21:4-5) Most importantly God does not lie. As a member of The Staff at The Lighthouse of Sun Prairie, Mr. Schweppe touched my life (even though a Senior Maintenance Tech. and Housekeeping Director) probably more days than not during his Residency within our Community here, as he did many others! My Dad fought in WW 2 although, in the European Theatre instead of the Pacific. Nonetheless.... he had this in common with my Dad (my life-long Hero) whom we lost in 2010. Just simply being in the presence of Ralph, to me, was an Honor. I know for a fact that he will be missed by all that had anything to do with Mr. Schweppe on a "day to day" basis. My Prayers for God's comfort, peace and understanding to each of his family members throughout this time of yes.... mourning but also, celebration of a life well done. God Bless~

Ralph was a truly NICE man, one who would offer you anything that he had if you needed it...I will miss the companionship at breakfasts at his favorite restaurant, and the several visits I had with him at his home, and will remember him talking about one of his favorite subjects, his garden! My condolences to his family...he will be missed! He had a blessed, full life!
