Obituary

Fish, James H. Monona-James H. Fish, age 86, of Monona passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the William S. Middleton Memorial V.A. Hospital, Madison. He was born on May 1, 1928 in Madison, the son of Guy and Rosella (Thorpe) Fish. Jim was united in marriage to Bev Breiby on Dec. 30, 1950 and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2003. He was a lifelong resident of the Madison area. Jim was a graduate of Wisconsin High School, Madison, where he excelled in athletics. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the war, Jim studied as an electrician and quickly attained his master license. Among his many interests and hobbies were racing, golfing, fishing and hunting. His true love was flying and was proud of his membership in the Quiet Birdmen. Above all, Jim had a deep love for his family and friends. Jim is survived by his children, Kathy (Scott) Mentink of Fond du Lac, Scott (Mary) Fish of Tucson, Ariz., and Steve Fish of McFarland; grandchildren, Tyler (Gesina) Mentink, Brett (Katie) Mentink, Chelsea Mentink, Kris (Steve) Kilcoyne, Dustin (Jessica) Galbraith, Caroline Fish, Tia Fish, Jared Fish, Nicole Fish and Katie Harris; great-grandchildren, Baron, Lawson, Breahna, Madden, Austin, Ashton, Ashlyn, Devlin, Rob and Makaela; special friend, Millie Kiefer; son-in-Law, Ed Harris,who he considered a son; and other relatives and many friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Karol Harris. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, with Chaplain Nancy Davis presiding. Burial with full military rites honoring his service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
