Pearl Helen Schultz

LODI- Pearl Helen Schultz, age 93, passed away on March 30, 2015, at Lodi Good Samaritan Center. She was born October 26, 1921 in the Lodi area and spent her entire life there. She was the daughter of Fred and Ferne Hohlstein. She married William Schultz on September 21, 1940. Together Bill & Pearl farmed for many years around the Lodi area, Pearl also worked 25 years as a cook at Mendota Mental Health. After retirement she was a custodian for First Lutheran Church, Lodi City Hall and the Lodi Library for a number of years. Pearl loved gardening and always had many beautiful flowers. She raised many gaggles of geese and flocks of chickens. She had a deep love of Christmas and loved to give presents. She will be remembered for always giving birthday cards to family with some small token inside. She is survived by her three children, Wilma (Gene) Grunewald of Madison, Carol (George) Young and Donald (Karla) Schultz, both of Lodi; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Fred (Mary) Hohlstein. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; an infant son, Billy; and her two sisters, Carol Theis and Marie Markart. Memorial services will be held at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 206 Pleasant St., Lodi, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 11, 2015, with fellowship to follow. Visitation will take place at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred which will be distributed to Lodi area agencies.
