Roland L. Kraiss

MADISON–Roland L. "Rollie" Kraiss, age 86, of Madison (formerly of New Lisbon), passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 1, 1928, in New Lisbon, the son of Martin and Olga Kraiss. He was married to Barbara Rabuck on Aug. 6, 1966. Rollie was in the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1948. He was a Steamfitter for his entire working life and a member of the Steamfitters Local Union No. 394 since 1951. Rollie enjoyed traveling, but the most important thing in his life was his family. He will be remembered as a hard working, kind and generous man. Rollie is survived by his children, Roland “Skip” (Patty), Andy (Zhijian), and Toni (Tony) Richmond; grandchildren, Josh and Wyatt Kraiss, and Eli and Hope Richmond; two sisters, Mildred Richmond and Mary Lou Neitzel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; three brothers, Adolph, Leonard, and Harvey; and his beloved friends, Duchess and Lady. A memorial service will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon, on Saturday, March 21, 2015, with Pastor Stephen Marsh presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A luncheon will immediately follow the service on Saturday.
