Brickler, Avonelle "Nell"
WYOCENA, WIS./SPRINGFIELD, Ill.- Avonelle "Nell" Brickler, passed away quietly after a short illness at Columbia Health Care Center, Wyocena, Wis. on Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was born on February 24, 1924, in Winfield, KS. Nell was a resident of Springfield, Ill. from 1936 to 1988. She married Roscoe Brickler in 1944. Roscoe and Nell had a marvelous love and worked side by side farming and running Brickler Farm Service for 35 years. Their son, Robert, joined the business in the mid-70's. Roscoe preceded her in death in 1979, and his passing left a warm place in the hearts of all who knew him. Nell is survived and sadly missed by two children, Judith (Brian Dunn) Susmilch of Rio, Wis., and Robert Brickler of Cave City, Ky.; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Travis) Goodlund, Jason (Amy) Brickler, and Megan (Kurt) Steensma; five, great-grandchildren, Caroline Goodlund, Alexander and RJ Brickler, and Connor and Kaden Steensma; nephew, Kenneth Brickler (Violet) of Springfield, Ill.; and many great nieces and nephews. A celebration of Nell's life will be held at PARKWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 2700 Lindbergh Blvd., Springfield, Ill., at 2:15 p.m., on Saturday, June 13, 2015, with the Rev. Mark Gifford presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be held at Mechanicsburg Cemetery next to her beloved Roscoe following the service at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
