Condolences to Bernie's family. I worked with Bernie in the early 1950's, at the old boathouse on Wingra Creek. I worked summers there for 5+ years, until time constraints of being in Medical
School made working there impossible to continue. I worked with Bernie on mosquito control, and I drove the "mosquito truck" for several summers. Bernie always had a smile on his face, and I remember how he would come to work on Spring mornings telling of having been out the evening before, picking what he called "Sparrow-grass"(asparagus)

Jack and I would like to send you our deepest sympathies to Bernies Family. I have many fond memories growing up next door. From the worn down path in-between our bushes...to the wonderful apple trees to climb on, that he took such great care of...to playing hide-n-seek hiding in the grape vines, of course tasting a few...watching the turtles in the turtle pond, that he made...Freckles, his dog...the rabbits, Snowball (?)....Bernie was always outside taking care of something and always willing
to stop and talk to you. Even in later years when I had my own family, I would run into Bernie at the grocery store and he always had time to talk about how things were going.
Bernie was a wonderful person, who will be deeply missed by so many people. Your in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Pauline (Thering) and Jack Trainor

Although briefly, we had the pleasure of knowing Bernie and his family and the honor of helping care for him. He made it very easy to care for him and kept his sense of humor even during the painful and difficult days the last two weeks. We feel very blessed to have been a small part of his life. We will remember him fondly.
