Budig, Barbara J.
MADISON-Barbara J. Budig, age 61, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home with her family. She was born on Feb. 26, 1954, in Portage, and grew up in Baraboo, the daughter of Sylvester and Jeannette Budig. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Madison College, Barbara married Charlie Sanders on May 8, 1992, in Madison. She worked at UW Department of Ophthalmology. Barbara loved art, antique auctions and estate sales. She was a talented artist who enjoyed etching, oil painting, and was a galleried print maker. Barbara played the cello, piano, guitar, and the organ. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Sanders; mother, Jeannette Budig; siblings, Dianne (Dave) Kehoe of Baraboo, Eileen (Guy) Somers of Madison, Patrica (Ed) Taylor of Baraboo, Mary (Bob) Trost of Vancouver, Wash., Tim Budig of Minneapolis, Minn., Annette (Dan) Halbach of Baraboo, and Stephen (Tricia) Budig of Sun Prairie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at OLBRICH BOTANICAL GARDENS, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on Friday, April 17, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Frontiera, the Dean Health System Hematology & Oncology Clinic and Agrace HospiceCare. I'm so sad to hear this. I knew Barb at U of Wisc, we met through friends, and I appreciated her kindness, her manner and her intelligence. I'll never forget years later seeing her and Jenny by chance at the Edinburgh Festival.
