Marian Hunt

Hunt, Marian R. MADISON-Marian R. Hunt, age 89, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Edgerton, to Clara and Marvin Roy Hunt. Marian attended schools in Madison and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1949. She completed the medical technologist training program at St. Mary’s Hospital and worked there for four years. She then worked in the Clinical Laboratory at University Hospital for 37 years. Marian was active in professional organizations. She attended continuing education programs for herself and participated in providing them to other medical technologists. Marian was especially interested in the developing field of quality assurance. In her late career years, her efforts were focused on obtaining the required certification and accreditation for the UW Hospital Clinical Laboratory. Marian was grateful to the contribution of clinical chemists to her life and to the improvement of the clinical lab. Marian was a kind-hearted and generous soul who always put others first. A life-long learner, she never owned a television, but read newspapers and magazines cover to cover, and enjoyed listening to public radio. She retained her positive spirit and steel-trap memory even in her final days. Marian is survived by her sisters-in-law, Janis Hunt and Phyllis Hunt; brother-in-law, Don (Betty) Olson; nieces, Nancy (Bill) Norton, Rebecca Hunt (Jim Koch), Lori (Bill) Kilbey, Christine (Dan) O’Connell, Cyndy (Craig) Luzinski, and Amy Hunt; nephew, David Hunt; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Olson; and brothers, Richard A. Hunt and Robert L. Hunt. There will be no visitation.
