Syse, Robert, W.
MADISON-Robert (Bob) Wayne Syse, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 31, 1933, in Blanchardville, the son of Burnell and Edna (Hermanson) Syse. Bob graduated from Madison East High School and married LaVonne Weaver on Sept. 4, 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a jet mechanic. Bob was an active member of the American Legion Veteran’s organization Post No. 501. He worked at Oscar Mayer for over 44 years, as a mechanic. Bob was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, where he was active in the Christian Men’s Fellowship. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bob had many hobbies including golfing, gardening, watching the Packers and bird watching. He is survived by his sister, Bernice Macaulay; his children, Julie (Ray) Beutler, Doug (Lisa) Syse and Jody (Jeff) Keller. He was a beloved grandfather to Ashley, Danielle and Caitlin. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LaVonne; daughter, Cindy; brother-in-law, Bill; and nephew, Donald Macaulay. A funeral service will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and chaplain at St. Mary’s SSICU for their care and compassion. “Dad, you are and always will be the wind beneath our wings.” Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Julie, Dad and I are saddened at the loss of your father. I have seen him at Bethel, but I never knew he was your father. I watch the services at home, nevertheless, I have seen him reading one of the lessons at the 7 am service that is shown at 10 am. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. I am sadden uncle Bob passed. The syse family of aunt blond and Uncle bob had a bIg part in my growing up years. So many wonderful memory's may the good Lord be with each and everyone in the Syse family in this time of grief. Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
