Edward D. “Ed” Gile
MONONA/LAKE GENEVA–Edward D. “Ed” Gile, age 67, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, from complications due to elective heart surgery. Ed was born on June 11, 1947, in Elkhorn, the son of Lyle and Rose (Young) Gile. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Kathy Stotko on June 5, 1971 at St. Francis De Sales Church in Lake Geneva. Ed served his country during the Vietnam War. He was with the District No. 1 State Patrol and has owned and operated Leisure Coin Machine since 1985. Ed was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cycling, spending time with his grandchildren, Briana and Hunter and spending time at “The Land”. He was a tissue and bone donor. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Ed is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Adam and Grant; brothers, Howard (Judy) and Jay (June); brother-in-law and best friend, Tom Stotko; brother-in-law, Steve (JoEtta); sisters-in-law, Judy Lynn and Dee Stotko; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred; brother-in-law, Jack; and father and mother-in-law, J.P. (Jean) Stotko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, with Father John Silva presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Lee and the staff at Meriter Hospital, and Dr. Komodo and Dr. Osaki and staff at UW Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Very sorry to hear this news. Ed was a VERY stand up guy and I always enjoyed speaking to him, either on the phone or at meetings and conferences. He will be missed by many and you are all in my prayers. God has gained a new soldier and you an angel to watch over you.
