Anderson, Robert L.
MONONA–Robert L. Anderson, age 81, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. He was born on March 8, 1933, in Merrill, Wis., and graduated from Merrill High School in 1951. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Emmerich, on Aug. 2, 1952 in Sherman, Texas. In 1972, after a career serving his country, he retired from the U.S. Army, then held the positions of Chief Polygraph Examiner and Administrative Assistant for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking, repairing automobiles, fishing, hunting and gardening. Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Jeffery (Dennis), and Gregory (Michelle); grandchildren, Garrett, Brent, Megan, and Mason; sister-in-law, Judy Anderson; brothers-in-law, Eugene, and Ronald (Martha) Emmerich; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Agrace HospiceCare. I worked with Bob for several years while he was a polygraph examiner. I firmly believe there are people alive today due to Bob's expertise and personality whiile interviewing and examining bad people. I think he was a gentle giant and I'm glad to call him my friend.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Bob at the Justice Department. He was truly a dedicated professional possessing a great amount of energy and expertise at any project he handled. The Justice Department as well as those with whom he worked greatly benefitted from his loyalty and skills. He will be missed.

I had a great deal of respect for Bob and always looked forward to working with him when he was a polygraph examiner at the lab. I learned something from him every time I had the privilege to have him involved in a case. Later I worked with him when he was at Justice downtown. He was always a true professional.
