Laura Marie Ulvestad

Laura Marie Ulvestad passed away Monday January 19, 2015 with her family by her bedside. She was 90 years old and was the third child out of 5 born to Katherine (Stoll) and Harold Myer. Laura was raised on a farm near Stockbridge, Michigan. She graduated from high school in 1942, then worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypslanti, Michigan. In August 1944, Laura enlisted in the Navy serving as a Store Keeper second class until she was given an honorable discharge in 1946. Victor Roald Ulvestad of Wisconsin was the love of her life. Laura met Victor in Cleveland, Ohio at a USO Club. When apart, they kept in contact through writing each other love letters. Upon Victor’s discharge from service, they were married in Nashua, Iowa at The Little Brown Church in the Vale. Laura was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was much loved for her kind and giving spirit. She is survived by her five children - Vicki Espinoza (Reading, PA), Dennis Ulvestad (Dane, WI), Sonia Chapman (Niceville, FL), Marilyn Cogley (Elgin, IL) and Victor Bert Ulvestad (Madison, WI); seven grandchildren - Tara and Tasha Espinoza, Jenny and Cory Ulvestad, Phillip and Jacqueline Chapman, and Lauren Cogley; and one great-granddaughter - Sophia Chapman. She is survived by her brother Edgar (Mason, Michigan) along with many nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her husband Victor (2013), her parents Harold and Katherine, and three brothers - Arthur, Bud, and Ralph Myer. Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church, 206 Pleasant Street, Lodi at 11:00 AM on Friday January 23rd, 2015 with Reverend JoAnn Fabie presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
