Obituary
MIDDLETON-Violet Irene Riesch, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Violet was born on June 9, 1930 in Truman, Minnesota, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Buckmeier) Jensen. Violet received honors for academic excellence at Truman High School and at Winona State University where she pursued her passion for music. On July 21, 1951, Violet was united in marriage to John L. Riesch. Violet taught music in the public schools of Alma, Arcadia and Verona, Wisconsin. She directed several church choirs and the Dane County 4-H Chorus. For 25 years she worked in the Dane County Aging programs and the West side Coalition of older adults as an outreach case manager in rural Dane County. She served a term on the Dane County Board of Health. During retirement she volunteered for the Madison west literary council, the Dane County SOS senior council, and Mom and Pop charities.
Violet is survived by her husband, John L. Riesch; four children, Douglas J. (Jerol) of Cambridge; Paula A. (Dan Borski) of Waunakee; Bradley R. (Patti) of Baraboo; and Barbara L. Russell (Jeffrey) of Centennial, Colorado; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, William Jensen of Baton Rouge, LA and a sister Jody Buckmeier of Fort Meyers, FL and Fairmont, MN.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lucille.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015, with the Reverend James Iliff presiding. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be at 1 PM in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. I am very sorry for your terrible loss. Upon reading it was very obvious that Mrs. Riesch had a love for life, people, and family. The promises at (Revelation 21:4) are always encouraging to me. And the hope at (Acts 24:15) is soon to occur. May you find comfort in your fond memories. The website www.jw.org is assisting millions in finding TRUE answers from the Bible to life's big questions. I know you will enjoy it as much as I do. Again, my condolences and upmost respect.

I was sorry to hear this news. I enjoyed having Violet as my mother's "neighbor" and seeing John when he came to visit Violet. I will remember her singing, artwork and sharing meals with my mother. I hope it provides comfort that she had her family around her at her final Christmas party at Artisan. She must have been a special lady to produce such a caring family. I always enjoyed happening upon Violet when shopping or out and about in Middleton. She was such a kind and smiling presence. As I am also an older lady and in a caregiving role, I have come to appreciate more and more the contributions Violet has made. Bringing beauty and loving care into the lives of the aging is an immeasurable gift to the world.
