To the Family of Ben Woodstock......It gets difficult, as time passes on, to see the names of old friends in the Obituaries. Ben was a first class man and always was fun to be with. I haven't seen him for a long time but there will be many great memories. My condolences are out to all. God Bless You All!!

Ben loved to drive and to take road trips. He had phenomenal knowledge of the highways and roads of Southern Wisconsin and had a story or recollection of each of them.
When I think of Ben the words that come to mind are wise, stalwart, heroic--he was a man who could be counted on. He was more a John Wayne character than John Wayne was.

Ben gave me my first job. While working for Ben and living across the street from Ben I always admired his sense of humor and the respect he held for his family, customers and those he worked with. Looking back I would say that he was my first roll model and a roll model I will never forget.
With my condolences,

To the family of Ben Woodstock,
I have known Ben for many years, as I have waited on him (and your Mom before her passing) at the Black Bear Inn in Cottage Grove for breakfast, for most, if not all, of the 16 plus years I have worked there. Ben was a sweet, kind, man. He always had a smile for me. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. I will miss his smile, his laughter, and his company on Sunday mornings. I always looked forward to seeing him and could (most of the time) get him to drink one more cup of coffee before he left. My last words to him were - "See you later Ben... have a great week." There will always be a place in my heart for Ben and Joan, and an empty chair on Sunday mornings. God Bless and keep you, Ben.
Kind regards,
