Obituary
Alt, Robert A.
MADISON-Robert A. Alt, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015. He was born on April 22, 1944, in Reedsburg, the son of Alphonse and Florence (Liegel) Alt. Bob graduated from St. Luke’s High School and served in the Air National Guard. He married Carol Dederich on Feb. 24, 1968, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Loretto. Bob was an accountant for many small businesses, most recently working at ADS Mechanical. He was an active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. Bob was a cancer and transplant survivor whose positive outlook and prayerful daily mantras such as “life is good” and “embracing opportunities”, inspired and gave hope to everyone he touched. He was also an avid gardener and canner who was known for his pickles, salsa, and sauerkraut, which he shared with all. Bob is survived by his wife, Carol of Madison; daughter, Tina (Kurt) Gregus of Naperville, Ill.; three granddaughters, Natalie, Olivia, and Sophia; father, Alphonse of Spring Green; four sisters, Edith (Richard) Hochstetter, Joanne (John) Acomb, Alice (Dave) Dischler, and Margie (Jim) Ries; two brothers, George (Jeanne) Alt, and Allan (Sue) Alt; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence; sister, Mary Conway; and an infant sister, Katherine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. LUKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1240 Nachreiner Ave., Plain, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, with Father Michael Resop presiding. Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Luke’s. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Bob will be greatly missed, but his love, energetic spirit, smile and template for kind heartedness will be with us forever. Tina and family. I'm so sorry to hear about the unexpected passing of your wonderful father. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob at AA&M numerous times and I truly enjoyed the interaction. Not to mention that your dad passed to me jars of his delicious salsa which my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed. My heart aches for you and your family. My deepest sympathies to all of you. God bless your dad and may he rest in peace. Your friend, Mike Kuziemka, AA&M

I will miss Uncle Bob's bone-crushing bear hugs. My fondest memory of Uncle Bob is when he and my mom (Alice) were in a heated early morning discussion upstairs (cousins Tina, Terri, Vicki, Jill and myself were sleeping in the basement) and we were all woken up by Bob shouting "6% simple interest!"
