Darlene Imhoff

Imhoff, Darlene M. MADISON /HIGHLAND-- Darlene M. Imhoff, age 92 entered into Eternal Life on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. She was born in rural Highland on Dec. 31, 1922, to Frank Pink and Mildred Pink Hebgen. She graduated from Highland High School in 1940. On June 26, 1943, she married Delbert Imhoff. Darlene was employed at Ray-O-Vac and Dane County in Madison. As a secondary job she ran her own cleaning business for over 40 years. Darlene was a devote Catholic. Before moving to Madison she was an active member of St. Phillips Catholic Church in Highland. After moving to Madison, Darlene joined St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was active in the Catholic Woman’s Club, Women of St. Bernard Club, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Immaculate Heart of Mary Prayer Group and the Schoenstatt Movement. One of the greatest expressions of love we can give each other is that of time. Much of Darlene’s time was spent helping and caring for the sick and elderly. In addition, Darlene’s way of showing this love was through countless hours of sitting at her kitchen table sending out greeting cards, including over 150 Christmas cards each year. This was truly an expression of her love and we all thank her for that. Darlene loved to bake with her favorites being chocolate chip cookies and loaves of banana bread which she always shared with her family, friends and neighbors. She cherished her home and decorated it inside and out for every holiday. She enjoyed her beautiful rock garden, lawn and collecting cardinals and angels. She also enjoyed traveling to her daughter’s cottage for many summers with her good friend Joan Oakey. Darlene will be remembered by many friends in Highland where she lived for 44 years and in Madison, her home for the last 48 years. Survivors include her five children, Carol Conners of Sun Prairie, Donald (Linda) Imhoff, Shirley (James) Stasney, David Imhoff and Lucinda (Pete) Mucks, all of Madison; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Imhoff; her parents; step-father, Francis Hebgen; and four brothers, Gerald, Virgil, DuWayne and Patrick; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Conners; and a grandson, Nicholas Conners. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Wed., Jan. 14, 2015, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding and the Rev. Monsignor Delbert Schmelzer and Rev. Roger Nilles concelebrating. Visitation will be held for relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum, Madison. In lieu of flowers, the family will use memorials for masses to be said in Darlene’s name. "Our Mom had a strong faith in God and everyone who met her commented on her unforgettable smile. She is now in a better place and will be greatly missed by her family and friends."
