Obituary
BROOKLYN - Mary Ann Jonas, 63, of Brooklyn entered eternal grace on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014. She died peacefully after a two-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
On Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 323 North Van Buren Street, Stoughton. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Internment and a celebration of Mary Ann’s life will conclude our gathering. Mary Ann was born on June 29, 1951, in Milwaukee, WI to Gerold and Emily (Placzkowski) Willing. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in St. Francis in 1969 and married Richard Jonas in 1971. She was a fan of the Firefly Coffeehouse in Oregon, Pinnacle in Fitchburg, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stoughton; as well as, a lover of Bailey’s Harbor, Minocqua and Lake Geneva. Mary Ann enjoyed paper dolls as a child and teased her siblings (“Mary Ann the pincher”). She was a heartfelt writer, loved children, was a steadfast caregiver to her husband, Richard, relished front porch swing conversations with her daughter, Lisa, and cherished vegetable meal creations by her son, Luke. Mary Ann was kind to strangers, collected stones and adored Christmas. She was grateful to no longer have to shop or care about her weight. Mary Ann was a believer in openness and a good God. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Richard Jonas of Brooklyn; her two children, Lisa (Michael) Poineau of Naperville, IL and Luke Jonas of Fitchburg; granddaughter, Kate; four siblings, Patricia (Ken) Russell of Waukesha, Gerold (Georgianna) Willing of Kenosha, Veronica Shea of Oak Creek, and Janice (Alan) Gnacinski of Franklin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of Richard Jonas.
