William C. Kopplin

MADISON - William C. “Bill” Kopplin, age 83, of Madison/Portage, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Kings Veteran Home. He was born on Sept. 16, 1931, in Marquette County, the son of Arnold and Elsie (Labrenz) Kopplin. Bill worked for the State of Wisconsin, retiring after 32 years. He was a dedicated father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. Bill was also a proud veteran and one of the founding members of the Madison Veterans Firing Squad. He is survived by his sons, Charles and Carey Kopplin; grandchildren, Amber and Michael; great-grandchildren, Zavier and Jordyn; sisters, Ellowyn (Roger) Kershaw of Pardeeville, Helen (Jim) O’Neill of Pardeeville, Marge (Gean) Thornton of Rockford and Jeannie (Ronnie) Rinaldi of Rockford; and brother, Elton Kopplin of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janette; second wife, Gloria; sisters, Rosalie and Marion; and brothers, Harland and Harold. Funeral services with Full Military Honors will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, with the Rev. Tim Hansen presiding. The service will begin with a Pass and Review conducted by VFW Post #7591. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
