Bernita Irene Schroeder

Schroeder, Bernita I. “Bernie” MADISON–Bernita I. “Bernie”. Schroeder, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at All Saints. She was born on April 11, 1940, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Richard and Luella Harpold. Bernie was united in marriage to Paul C. Schroeder in November of 1960. After devoting her time to raise her family, she joined the workforce at the Cottage Café and then at the University of Wisconsin (DoIT). Bernie had many passions in life including family, golf, cooking, crocheting and all the special times she spent in Florida with family. Bernie is survived by her children, Julie (Steve) Butler of Madison, Scott (Stacy) Schroeder of Madison and Richard (Julie) Schroeder of Madison; two grandchildren, Aidan Butler and Morgaine Schroeder; a brother, Leonard (Sherry) Harpold; and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Marlene Vrbsky, Geraldine Stanek, Dick Harpold and Dorothy Garner. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a short prayer service at 6 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, with Pastor Pat Siegler presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bernie’s family would like to thank the staff at All Saints for the wonderful care given to their mother.
