Obituary

MADISON- Julia Belle Olson, age 102, of Madison passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th, 2014 at The Villa at Middleton Village Nursing Home. Born July 9th, 1912, to Stanly & Mary Koster, Julia enjoyed growing up in Madison with her five older siblings. She married Stanley “Ole” Olson on Dec 31st, 1939 and welcomed their first child, James after relocating to Hartford CT. Upon returning to Madison in 1944, “Ole” purchased the house Julia would live in for the rest of her life, and the couple welcomed two more sons, William and Gary. Julia enjoyed all the friends she met through working for over 30 years at the Madison Park Street Hospital (now Meriter), and volunteering at Dale Heights Presbyterian Church. She loved to garden, bake, and read. She could darn a sock like no other, and a note sent to Julia earned a hand written response she would sit down and write the very next day. More than anything, Julia loved to receive visitors and share her many stories with a host of family and friends. Julia is survived by her three sons, Jim (Mary “Biz”), Bill, Gary (Maryanne); her grandchildren, Erika (Bob) Donnelly, Chelsea and Abigail Olson, and her great grand-daughter, Leah Donnelly. In addition to her sons, her survivors include many special nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews as well. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, in 1957. Her parents; her brothers, Stanley, Vincent, and Clarence, her sisters Grace & Francis; her grandson Christopher J. Olson, and daughter-in-law Carolyn Olson. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the kind staff at The Villa at Middleton Village and Agrace Hospice Care. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Dear Gary, Maryanne, Chelsea and Abbeyl, So sorry to hear of your loss. I remember her from way back when she and Aunt Lucille, Aunt Mary and my mom used to do things together. Julia was always such a sweet lady. It sounds like she had a very good life and that's what makes a beautiful memory. Sincere sympathy to you and all of your family. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Jan and Keith Bush

Dear Olson Family, Julia was a dear lady! I miss her and her "Blessing" everyday. There is a void here at The Villa, she was a constant joy here. She would kiss her photos of family members and speak fondly of all. I thank the Lord for Julia and I am sure that she is with Him now. May fond memories help carry your family through this difficult time. Prayers for you. Lara at The Villa at Middleton Village.
