Jim has been my good friend almost from the day we met in summer of 1972 when I first arrived for duty in the 609th TAC control Squadron , at Cannon AFB, NM. He always had a smile and a joke, and quick to laugh, even when he was diagnosed with cancer. When I first met him in NM he was renting an old ranch house (for some reason he like to rent old farm houses) about 10 miles from the base and I remember racing motorcycles on a track we made in the pasture by the house, and he would always say that you weren't going fast enough if you never crashed, and we did a lot of crashing in the dirt . I will truly miss my friend Jim, but I am glad that his pain has finally ended.

From Geri (and Tom) I have been a friend of Bobbie's for 40 years and met Jim 26 years ago when he married my friend. While they were dating, I had the opportunity to experience Jim's boating skills. I got a call to come rescue he and Bobbie from Lake Monona after their small sailboat had capsized. From then on, Jim had many boats....they always got bigger and better (well, not necessarily better) and our last experience was with he and Bobbie on the Mississippi in his big cruiser. It would be one of the last times he got on the water as his cancer was taking a toll. I will never meet a man with as much tenacity in not letting the cancer stop him from making life matter, whatever little he had left. I will miss him and think of him whenever I am boating, knowing he is helping me steer.
