Herbert G. Rindy

Rindy, Herbert G. “Bud” MADISON–Herbert G. “Bud” Rindy, age 92, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 8, 1922, in Madison, the son of Herbert C. and Dell (Michelson) Rindy. Bud was a lifelong eastsider and loved spending time on Lake Monona with his family and friends, where he built his first ice boat at the age of 16. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Bud was united in marriage to Arlene Olson on Sept. 27, 1946, in Salem, Ore. He built three homes over the years while working full time. In 1946, he worked for Madison Moving and Storage, taking over in 1963 and retiring in 1987. At that time, his son, David, who grew up in the business, took over. One of Bud’s lifelong dreams was to take a boat from Sturgeon Bay, cruise down the Mississippi River, around the Florida Keys, and up the Intracoastal Waterway, which he and Arlene did in the early 80’s. He is survived by his four children, Cheryl (Michael) Moskoff, Jaclyn (Mike) Hirsch, Patricia Phillips and David (Karen) Rindy; nine grandchildren, James and Joel Kuenzi, Maleah, Gabriel, Alex and David Moskoff, Chris and Angela Rindy, and Sam Phillips; and six great-grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Arlene. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, with Chaplain Jason Hill presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
