Obituary
Miller, Avis Susan
FITCHBURG-Avis S. Miller, age 93, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Evansville Manor. She was born on Oct. 3, 1921, to Frederick and Hazel Volker. Avis graduated from East High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Jerome Miller on Feb. 24, 1941. Avis was a stay at home mom that took care of multiple neighborhood children and her home was where all the children came to hang out, eat goulash, laugh, and talk over their problems. She never missed her children’s athletic events and loved watching birds, playing cards with her card club, was a great cook and entertained all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren at Crystal Lake. Avis and Jerry could be seen often riding their tandem bike around Crystal Lake Campground (rumor was that Jerry did all the pedaling and she was just along for the ride). Avis is survived by her children, Patricia Ring of Madison, Rick (Jill) Miller of Lodi, Fred (Teresa) Miller of Brooklyn and Jerri Lynn (Doug) Anderson of Mazomanie; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; son-in-law, Mike Ring; sisters, Jeannette Angell and Muriel Mowrey; and brothers, Fritz Volker and Bruce Volker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC PARISH AT ST. JOSEPH CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy., at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or St. James School. Thanks for the excellent care given by the girls and guys on Wing 400 at Evansville Manor. Also thank you to Agrace Hospice for their care and concern, and for the advice given to Avis and her family. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Pat, Rick, Fred and Jerri ~ You have my deepest sympathy. Along with all of your children and grandchildren. "Grandma Avis" was truly a wonderful lady. Now you have another Special Angel to watch over you. Everyone who knew her will miss her so much.
God's blessings to all of you.
