February 07, 1934 - October 06, 2014
Obituary
MADISON-Dorothy E (Endres) Hodgson, 80 years of age, of Saint Petersburg, FL and Mazomanie, WI passed away on October 6, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on February 7, 1934 in Madison, the daughter of Melchoir Endres and Regina (Vosen) Endres. Dorothy married Donald Edward Hodgson on December 4, 1959 in Madison.
She graduated from Edgewood High School in Madison in 1952. She moved to Sarasota, FL in 1960 then to Saint Petersburg in 1970. Dorothy retired from the Pinellas County Sherriff’s Department after working 15 years as a crossing guard supervisor in 1995.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters Denice Hodgson (Mike Pennell) of Fort Atkinson, WI and Donna Hodgson (Carlos Burns) of Metairie, LA and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Fr. Alfred Endres, brother Art Endres and sister Janet Brossard.
A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains, at 11 AM on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.
God saw that she was getting ill and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her, and whispered “Come with me”, with tearful eyes we watched her suffer, saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.
