Tonar, Henry “Hank” MONONA/MINOCQUA-Henry “Hank” Tonar, age 84, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at home with his family by his side. He was born on July 23, 1930, in Cudahy, Wis., the son of Larry and Bessie Tonar. He married Constance Hass on Feb. 14, 1953, in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Hank and Connie started Hallmark Drywall in 1972, in Madison, and together they were in business until their retirement. They spent their retirement years summering in Minocqua and wintering in Arizona and Florida. Hank enjoyed his hobbies of Bocce Ball, woodworking and golf. Hank is further survived by his brothers, Bob (Mary Ann) Tonar and Charles (Doris) Tonar; sisters Emily Landgraf and Betty Jane Kramer; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, his parents and parents-in-law, Bill and Lee Hass; brother, Edward Tonar; sister, Alice Ross; and nephew, Dave Tonar. A memorial mass will be held at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison, at 3 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. A luncheon will be served after the service. To all of Hank's daughters: I am very sorry to hear of your father passing away. I got to know him from the times he would stop in at the office. He and I always had a blast giving each other a "hard time." Many times I had to stop him from snatching the basket of candy from off of my desk and trying to walk out with it! Every year, at the end of the year, he would bring me a bottle of wine for "putting up with him" as he called it. I am not sure now if any of my customers will keep me on my toes the way he did, and I will miss that, and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this difficult time. Sincerely, Kristen Lemke (State Farm, Minocqua)

Hank...When I first met you at Crosstrails Restaurant in 1992 I thought you were a little different. As I got to know you I found that to be true.... only in the sense that you truely cared about people and were always ready to help if you could. Your dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew you. Rest in Peace my friend.

To Hank's family, my condolences and I believe that he is happy again now that he is with his wife. I as well as the rest of 'the guys' from McDonald's in Minocqua will miss you because you always kept us interested with your dry sense of humor and wit. You acted like such a tough guy, but I knew better. May you rest in peace. Karl Horwath

To Hank's family, I just received the very sad news of Hank's passing. He was the best neighbor anyone could have. Always willing to give a helping hand. I knew he was always there to help but didn't bother anyone. I had the pleasure of meeting Connie also and have fond memories of her giving tons of candy to my grand-daughter when she visited. I will always remember fondly both your parents. Love and courage to you all, Marie Lefebvre (His upstairs neighbour in Florida)
