COTTAGE GROVE/MADISON-Alma V. Herheim, age 83, of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at her home. She was born on March 25, 1931, in Newport Township, the daughter of Norman and Verna Thompson. She married Obie Herheim on Sept 21, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison and they spent the next 62 years together. Alma worked at the South East Holiday Inn for 30 years, where she was the executive housekeeper. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, and especially spending time with her family. She always looked forward to attending family reunions. Alma is survived by; three children, Julee (Roy Gherke) Dowling, Timothy (Julie) Herheim and Nancee Herheim; seven grandchildren, Kenneth (Joy) Foust, Jason (Samantha) Herheim, Kara (Eric) Cymbalak, Benjamin Herheim, Lisa (Eric Leggett) Herheim, Joshua (Tiesha) Herheim and Daniel Herheim; and nine great-grandchildren, Calvin and Carly Leggett, Austin Foust, Michael Herheim, Blake Foust, Landon, Alexander and Shawn Cymbalak and Amelia Herheim. Alma is also survived by a sister, Mae McQueen; sister-in-law, Betty (Robert) Burmeister; and an aunt, Helen Guildner . She also leaves behind many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Obie; brothers, William (Velma) Thompson and Dave (Amy) Sampson; and son-in-law, Robert Dowling. A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Dear Alma I couldn't come to say good bye to you, all those years we worked together was so great. I didn't want to see that your gone. When I came to your place to visit and brought you some flowers I could tell how loney you were with out Obei. You will always be in my heart. Love Karin Barreau
