Obituary
MADISON-Margaret Jane Karpinsky, age 93, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 11, 1921, in Fennimore, the daughter of Orville and Rose (Conley) Lampe. Marge was united in marriage to Leo Karpinsky on Sept. 21, 1946 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Parish, Middleton. She attended country schools as a child, graduating from Montfort High School and then Madison Business College. She worked for the U.S. Postal service for a time. Marge was the first executive secretary for John Suby helping to preside over the growth of Suby Von Haden and Associates. She retired after 18 years of service. Her primary focus in life was “riding herd” over five growing children. She was all business as a mom. She was loving, caring, fun, warm-hearted and firm. Marge loved fishing, summers “up North” on Lake Alice, Badger Hockey, the Brewers, sewing, gardening and canning. She loved to cook and bake for her grandkids. Marge is survived by her children, Jim (Sue) of Poynette, Bob (Pat) of LaCrescent, MN., Sandy (David) Everson of Madison, Diane (Ray) Grassl of South Milwaukee and Brian (Jeanne) of DeForest; 18 grandchildren, Lynn, Janet and Patti Karpinsky, Becky, Matt and Rachel Karpinsky, Cathy Miller, Courtney Irvin, Sarah, Anna and Vanessa Everson, Andrea Treu, Kerri Neitzel, Katie, Elisabeth and Emily Grassl and Jennifer Korth and Amber Karpinsky; and 20 great-grandchildren. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, parents, an infant daughter, Lisa; siblings, Modesta Voss, Rosemary Allen, Orville and George Lampe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 11 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 with Monsignor Michael Burke presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery, Middleton. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marge’s name may be made to organizations in support of veterans.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Margaret's passing---I have so many memories of her. Those of when we would come and stay in Madison when mom and dad had something going on when we lived in Kenosha. Then once we moved to Tomahawk the memories of going on the pontoon boat and fishing at the cottage. I truly wish I could come but Mike & Alex are in Wyoming hunting and I'm not good at driving in the city. I was going to come down with Steve but he has a big project going at work so he can't get away because he has people flying in for meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all---I want to thank you for sharing your beautiful mother and grandmother with me! All my love to you, Barbara (Lampe) Sievert

I will miss Marge greatly!. She was a wonderful woman and a fantastic neighbor! I've been thinking at length over a story to share about Marge as I have many lovely memories of her. As I recollect our interactions and time together, I return again and again to her generosity. Marge shared bulbs from her garden, chives, jams, and that amazing rhubarb cake. She cared for the wildlife in her yard and was always aware of the comings and goings of the neighborhood birds and flying squirrels. I feel blessed to have known Marge and to have been a recipient of her knowledge and caring.
