David Dillman

Dillman, David B. FITCHBURG-David B. Dillman, age 87, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 12, 1926, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Bernard and Veda (Garwood) Dillman. He married Virginia “Gee” Brown on Nov. 22, 1947, in Madison. David was a hard worker! He began his career working as a tradesman, a machinist, a printer and worked for Oscar Mayer and Greyhound. He worked for Moore’s Gas Station, where he met Virginia, who worked across the street at the diner. To support his family, David worked three jobs at the same time, including, Kroger’s, Richardson Bus Service and for Roy Pratt. David and Virginia owned and operated Dillman’s Service Station. After retirement, he and Virginia had a permanent campsite and spent 13 years camping with family and friends. In 1999 David, Virginia, their son, Donald and his wife, Peggy , built a small cottage on Castle Rock Lake. David is survived by his children, Barb (John) Reimann, David A. (Kay) Dillman, Doug (Patricia) Dillman, Deborah (Dan DeNomie) Florin, Laurie Deglau, Donald (Peggy) Dillman and Brian (Donna) Dillman; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Dillman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia in 2012; brothers, James “Newt” Dillman and Peter Dillman; sister, Martha Dillman; and son-in-law, Barry Florin. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, with Rev. Kerry Parker presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
