MADISON/MAPLE BLUFF-Maurice J. Reese, age 93, of Madison/Maple Bluff, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Attic Angel Place, with his wife by his side. He was born in a snowstorm on April 22, 1921, in Evansville, the son of Byron and Fannie Reese. Maurice married Arlene H. Reese on July 21, 1941 at the Methodist Church in Belleville. Maurice was a self made man. He was born into a family of seven children on a farm in Evansville and lived there until he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1942. I had the pleasure of working with Mr Reese, Debbie & Nancy at Reese & Associates back in the middle 1980's. Getting hired there part time was my entrance back into office work. I loved working there & was sad when the job ended. I really believe it was his influence that enabled me to be hired at another insurance company. Great great man & he will be missed by many. Sincerest condolences to his family.

To the entire Maurice & Arlene Reese extended family of children and grandchildren: I just happened to come to know about Mr Reese's passing only now, a few years after. My dad, BN Garudachar, aka Char, has been a close friend of the family from his days in Madison WI from 1954. They were an excellent host family and friends to my dad, during his study and stay at the U of Wisconsin in the 1950s. My dad fondly recollects a memory of Mr Reese telling my dad during their last meeting in Madison in the 2000s that they shared a similar but very different record: of being the youngest PhD and the oldest graduate degree at Wisconsin! I remember visiting you all during my own visits to your house during the late 1980s and then again on a couple of occasions, the last being in the 2000s. I remember visiting you in the late 1980s. As I was trying to locate the house, I stopped at a restaurant to ask for directions. A lady there who was with some children overheard my conversation, and asked if I was related to 'Char'. I was flummoxed, and it turned out that the lady was Kathy. She then personally escorted me to her parents house. I still remember attending a luncheon at the nearby country golf club, attended by the entire family. They treated me like another child of the family, and I am forever touched by the warmth and hospitality. I remember taking my wife to their home in 2004, where we spent a day with them before heading off to the Wisconsin dells. Again, we enjoyed their company. My dad will be gutted to know this news, and I would appreciate it very much if we could get access to the contact details of the family members, so my parents can get in touch, even if so late.
