Carol and I became friends in the late 80's when I was working on a PhD at the School of Veterinary Medicine and we shared a laboratory. She was a perfectionist in her work, always double checking everything for accuracy and taking great pride in doing a good job. She was my "foxy lady" and I was hers, and we stuck together in good times and in bad. She was so proud of her children! During the years we worked together, Kirk was "Bucky Badger" at UW Madison - a very big deal indeed! I still think of him as "Bucky" before I remember his real name. Carol and I have kept in touch over the years, and even when her memory was failing, calling her "Foxy Lady" or mentioning "Bucky Badger" was sure to bring a twinkle to her eyes. I wish we could sit together one more time and share her favorite treat and mine - ice cream. My sympathy to Carol's family on their loss: my foxy lady was truly one of a kind. Judi Bell

When the family and friends of Carol gather on Friday, November 28th there will be a presence of three people who will continue to represent their mother's legacy and pride -- Kip, Karyn and Kirk. I was lucky to be Carol's husband for almost 23 years and share the raising, love and pride that we had for our children. Lots of fond memories will never be extinguished by time. Our time together, starting 1956 in college and ending in 1981 brought forth tears of much happiness and some sadness. Carol's influence with our three children helped set them up for the success each of them has experienced. Our nine grandchildren have also benefited greatly by Carol's touch. With love and thanks -- Tom Luker

Carol leaves a legacy of family that reaches out and touches so many of us each day. I remember Carols quick grin despite our teenage antics that often revolved around the Luker household. We always felt welcome and at home there. A perfect balance between fun and caring. Carol loved her children and along with Tom instilled the importance of education and family. She will be missed. I wish you all peace and the fondest of memories and the sharing of beautiful stories of your times together.with love Laura Keenan

I knew Carol in the late 80's and early 90's when we both worked at the UW Vet School. I was happy to have her friendship. My husband and I retired to Monona in 2019 and I've been thinking about her and am sorry that it's too late to be in touch with her. I hope her family is well & thriving, Cynthia Broderick
