Obituary

MADISON-Louis C. Castens, 101 years old, died September 20 in Madison, WI. He was born in Lafe, AR May 31, 1913, graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1939 and was ordained on March 15, 1942. His first call was to Del Rio/Uvalde, Texas. He served faithfully as a pastor to congregations in Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas. Retiring at age 71 to Georgetown, TX, he served numerous interim positions and worked part-time at Mr. Gatti’s Pizza. Moving to Georgia with Lyle’s family, he worked for McDonald’s, enjoying interaction with people from all over the country and encountering some families who had been parishioners. In 2003 at age 90 he moved to Verona, WI., participating at the Verona Senior Center, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and many family activities. In 2007 he moved into Oakwood Village where he received great care until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife Nelda of 54 years. He is survived by his children Nathan (Nancy) Castens of Chanhassen, MN, Neal (Ruthie) Castens of York, NE, Lyle Castens of Acworth, GA and Phyllis (Jim) Wiederhoeft of Verona, WI. He loved and greatly enjoyed his 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the future. Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church columbarium project. We were saddened to learn of Uncle Louies passing. We enjoyed our visit with him in Ga, We visited Aunt Nelda while there and she called us by name. We always enjoyed his visits. God's Blessings Ervin and Patsy Castens Postier
