Obituary
MADISON – Dawn Ellen Sasser, age 57, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Oct. 06, 2014. She was born on April 4, 1957, in Madison, the daughter of Bernard E. and Ruth J. (Prahl) Klaprat. Dawn married Jeffrey M. Sasser, on June 11, 1983, in Madison. Dawn graduated from La Follette in 1975. She worked for over 30 years for the State of Wisconsin, the last 20 plus at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board. She retired in 2012. You could call Dawn the ultimate homebody, very few people now days can say that they spent their entire life living in the same home. A true testament that Dawn’s values were well grounded. By the same token, Dawn did enjoy traveling to escape the cold Wisconsin winters for a while, taking multiple trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico and the Caribbean. Dawn Ellen is the youngest sister and the greatest blessing to us. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; sisters, Anne Mary Klaprat and Karen (John) Carey; a brother, John Klaprat; nephew, Brian Carey; and many loving relatives. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. Private graveside services will be held. Dawn had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Goodman Food Pantry, Dane County Humane Society or the Susan B. Koman Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I did know Dawn, but was close to her sister, Karen. Karen had told me many stories about her sister through the years at the Morrisonville Post Office. I am so sorry to learn of Dawn's passing and even if Karen may not agree with me, she does now have an angel watching over her. My condolences go out to Dawn's family, especially, Karen. You are in my thoughts and prayers my friend.

Jeff, we are saddened to hear of Dawn's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and her family. Even though we are a distance apart, we are with you. I have fond memories, from my younger days, of visiting the both of you in my travels. The memories and love, that you two have had, are the the things you can hold onto and share with others for a lifetime. This is the gift you will always have. We love you cousin...

Hi Jeff - I'm so sorry to hear about my little friend Dawn - we still talk at work about her funny hats and costumes for the holidays. She and I cried together when our friend Barb passed. She left me one of her penguins when she retired, so I think about her every time I see it. I wish you had gotten more years together in retirement. - June

Jeff, my deepest sympathy. Dawn was a delight to know, and when I came to SWIB in 2007 she was the first to make me feel welcome and part of the organization. She left everyone she had contact with a little better off.
