I didn't get the chance to know Jim for very long, but, the year that I got to know him will leave a very pleasant memory of him in my mind. He was always smiling. and such a happy man. Always a kind word for everyone. It was a joy to share Jim and his friendship with our family.

Back in 1979 I had set up some job interviews at a few Real Estate companies. I had a 1:00 appointment at the Hallmark Realty office in Madison and had a so-so meeting with the manager, I was on my way out of her office when by chance I bumped into a guy that she introduced me to as Jim Trickey and if I took the job there I would be sharing an office with Jim. I chatted briefly with Jim, maybe 5 minutes and left to go to my 2:00 interview. I drove about 2 miles, pulled my car over and made a call to cancel my next appointment and went back and took the job with Jim's company.
It took less than 5 minutes talking to Jim that made me realize that Jim was a very special person. I have been so blessed to be able call him a very dear friend for 35 years. As I sat with Jim Tuesday we shared some great laughs and as usual he added a few, "oh, up yours" to the conversation.
His girls, his puppies and the great Northwoods always came first in Jim's life but he also shared his life with so many friends, after all becoming Jim's friend was real easy, seeing him go is not.
Jimmy Gerald, you just made Heaven a better place. I'll miss you buddy. Dave
