WAUNAKEE/MADISON/ FL/MN-Beryl M. Gullickson, age 87, passed away peacefully on her birthday, September 17, 2014 at Waunakee Manor Nursing Home from cancer. Beryl was born on September 17, 1927 in Rhinelander to Clyde and Lyllyan Emden. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1945 and lived in Minneapolis, MN for many years enjoying retirement in Florida before returning to Madison in 1998. Beryl was united in marriage to Melford B. Gullickson on October 4, 1950. Together they enjoyed football games, boating, playing cards and traveling. Beryl also enjoyed a good game of scrabble, crafts and oil painting. She made many crocheted and knitted afghans for relatives. Beryl worked at the Sheraton Ritz Hotel in Minneapolis and remembered it as being a very enjoyable job. Beryl is survived by two brothers, Fay (Joan) Emden and Dick Emden and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Dexter and Elwood and a sister, Dorothy. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Waunakee Manor Assisted Living and Nursing Home for their wonderful care. They also wish to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their exceptional support, assistance and help the past several months. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or a charity of your choice in Beryl’s memory. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the services at the funeral home.

My dear Aunt Beryl was a very special lady in so many ways, and I will greatly miss her in her passing. She and Uncle Mel would take me to there home and treat me like a "little queen", for weeks at a time in the summer months. Beryl would cook the most wonderful meals for us and spent quality time with me by taking me to see the arts museum which was then called Walker Arts Museum. She would also love to take me shopping and spoil me with new clothes and accessories! I remember the times suntanning on top of the apartment roof and going boating on beautiful summer day's (Uncle Mel would let me drive the boat at times, and I thought that was real cool). I could go on and on with all the wonderful times we had together. I will cherish these memories forever and will see my aunt once again with our Heavenly Father. God Bless! Love, Jill

My favorite memory of Aunt Beryl was watching her laugh at things we said as children. She enjoyed giving to us, and she would chuckle to Uncle Mel. The most fond thing too that I have for memory is when she taught me to knit. She was patient, and gave me a gift that I have loved all my life. She has done so much to bring happiness and love to our lives. Thank you Aunt Beryl.
Another one was the trip to Mpls. for a visit, and a day downtown, going to the cafeteria and shopping and the Art Museum.
