MADISON- “Mailman” Mike Kniebuehler, age 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014. Mike was born on June 17th, 1954, the son of Albert and June (Floeter). Mike was united in marriage to Marsha (McCord) on June 17th, 1989 and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Michael proudly served in the Army. He was part of the 101st Airborne, and was stationed in Germany. He worked for the postal service for 32 years, spending most of his career delivering mail to Monona Drive businesses. He loved being a letter carrier and enjoyed the people on his route. Many became good friends. Mike was generous with his love and friendship. He truly enjoyed sharing stories and laughing with family and friends. Mike was an avid hunter and loved to hear and tell hunting stories. If it wasn't hunting season, Mike was out on the golf course. If you met him after a day of golf, you would know what his score was for each and every hole, whether is was a birdie, bogie or par. Mike was a gear head at heart and wouldn't even consider passing by a hot rod or a custom cycle without making a comment on it. If you needed your engine replaced or your brakes fixed, he was your guy. He retired in May of 2011 after 30 years of service with the Post Office. Mike was looking forward to a life of golf and leisure in his retirement when an unexpected cardiac arrest left him with a traumatic brain injury. Mike is survived by his wife Marsha and daughter Jenny and son-in law Scott Crestodina; Brother, Bob "Uney" (Cindy); father and mother-in-law, Richard Sr. and Janice McCord; sister in-law Victoria (CJ) Boris; brother in-law Dick (Michelle) McCord; sister in-law Tamie Olson, brother-in law Shawn (Robin) McCord, brother in-law Kris McCord; brother in-law Steve (Liz) Ross and sister in-law Kristi (Brian) Mahler. He is further survived by nieces and nephews: Heather, Collin and Greta Corcoran, Melissa (Bob), Kai and Urban McCord, Shanna McCord, Abby (Geoffrey) Pineda and Ben Ross, Ashley (Jon) Ross, Patrick McCord, Dylan (Amy) McCord, Allen (Sam) McCord, Keeley and Quinn McCord, and dear friends Darrell and Sylvia Havey. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and June and brother in-law Keith "Oly" Olson. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 4PM until 8 PM and also on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
