Obituary
Klinzing, Gerard K. “Jerry”
Madison-Gerard K. “Jerry” Klinzing, age 88, passed away at home in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was born and raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the oldest of four children to Raymond and Genevieve (Pomerville) Klinzing. In 1953, he married Eleonora “Elly” (Testolin), the love of his life and partner in many adventures. Jerry was most proud of his family. He and Elly raised five sons, Michael (Lisa), John (Barb), Thomas (Kari), Joseph (Marita) and David (Todd and Patrick), in Monona, Wisconsin. Five grandchildren, John, Robert, Kayla, Sydney and Matthew, brought great joy to him. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Jerry began a lifelong career in sales which lead to his successful ownership of Klinzing Insurance Agency for 17 years. Jerry was a man of strong faith, who gave generously of his knowledge and time to encourage and support those around him. He never missed an opportunity to tell a story (or hand out a piece of chocolate). He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, who often shared time with him at the “A-frame”, his Northwoods escape of which he said, “If Heaven’s like this I’m ready to go!” A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass at St. Dennis Catholic Church, with Fr. Joji Reddy Allam presiding. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Agrace HospiceCare. Online condolences can be made at www.gundersonfh.com

A great guy who always made me feel welcome whenever I was over at the home in my youth.
A fine family that I give both my regards and condolences to in this rough time.
Remember, he is in a better place...

Joan and I would frequently cross paths with Elly and Jerry, both here in Madison and up north, when we both had cottages there.. More recently, Jerry and I would get together for coffee, and I would listen to him reminisce. He would talk about the round table dinners at the old Colonial Inn, hunting, New Year's day snowmobile rides, and old friends. Most of all, though, he talked about his family. He loved Elly and the "boys" and was devoted to them. He was also devoted to his God. These two things just have to be the measure to a good man. I will miss him.

Klinzing family, especially John & Joe from our days with Monona Optimist Club,
My sympathy to all of you at the passing of your father, husband and grandfather. A fathers greatest joy is his children. Knowing John & Joe and seeing how committed they are to family and community I'm sure Jerry was extremely proud. You must have learned valuable lessons from him. Please celebrate the life of this persons great influence in your lives as you work through the sadness and grief of losing a parent.

Elly and "boys", I was saddened to read Jerry's obituary in the Fond du Lac paper today. Thoughts and prayers to out to you all. Such a wonderful man with such a wonderful family. I lived across the street on Woodland and played with you three oldest ones almost daily. Your mom and dad did an outstanding job raising you. Be very proud of the job they did....Barb Ankeney Blau, 100 Lennora Crescent, Fond du Lac.

To the Klinzing family: my thoughts are with you and my prayers will join with yours this week. Your father enjoyed a good, long life and was able to see his children grow up to be strong, excellent people. His legacy is the positive effect that his children have with others, both within the immediate community and abroad. The world is a better place because of your father.
