Obituary

Wiskowski, Carol MADISON-Dear family, friends and those who are really glad to be reading this. Since my earthly journey has ended, The Lord, my constant shepard, lead me to my final home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014. I’m not going totally willingly, though. While I do not fear dying, I really enjoyed living! I’ve had a wonderful life, with many opportunities and I didn’t come near to completing my bucket list. Born in Gary Ind., to my hard-working parents, Anne and Paul Kobza, I had the good fortune to learn about cultures, diversity and work ethics. I spend a great share of my youth working in our family’s grocery and butcher business located a few blocks from the Gary steel mills during post WWII years. With sojourns in Michigan City, Ind., and Toledo, Ohio, the largest share of my working life was spent in Madison, Wis., where I had the privilege of being employed by Madison Gas and Electric Co. I served in various capacities during my 35-year career. During 13 years of retirement I was involved as a volunteer with many organizations and wonderful, like-minded people. I treasured my associations and friendships with people from Oakwood Village, Zonta Club of Madison, other Madison-area service clubs, a cooking instruction group, and my former employer and church, St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The person who made my departure most difficult is my beloved husband and best friend Jim, with whom I have enjoyed the best years of my life. I also leave behind my sister, Shirley; brother, Bob (Carllene); nephew, Randy (Laura, Evan and Alaina); niece, Sandy (Alvin, Christina and Kimberly); bonus children, Lynn, Larry and Lee (Anna and Matthew); and special friends, Bev and Jane. All will forever be in my heart, along with many other people I was so privileged to work and associate with. Although reluctantly leaving, I’m looking forward to joining my parents; and all my other relatives and friends who went before me. I will be interred within a granite bench in the cremation garden at Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison. Come take a walk on a beautiful day and sit and visit for awhile. If you wish to memorialize me, please consider donating to St. Stephen’s Foundation or UW Carbone Cancer Center. A memorial service will be held at ST. STEPHEN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd, Monona, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care 5203 Monona Drive (608)221-5420

Jim and Family We have two ways of remembering people who leave us and start another journey. We either cry over their absence or smile and remember them through the countless memories that have stayed back. I'm sure Carol wants you to smile forever. So sorry for your loss. The world has lost a truly beautiful LADY, with whom I had the privilege of working for many years. It was ALWAYS a pleasure, even when things weren't going as wished. Even though we grew apart in recent years, I thought of her often especially when contemplating how fortunate I was to have her counsel, advice, and wisdom during my career. I know she touched many other people in the same way and with her wonderful caring attitude. My sincere condolences to Jim and family.
