Roma M. Price
July 20, 1921 - September 19, 2014
Obituary
MONONA- Roma Mary (Pearson) Price, loving wife of Alton W. Price, passed away the morning of Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. Roma was the only daughter of William and Elsie Emma Pearson in Leicester, England, born on July 20, 1921. She was a war bride, married on April 7, 1945, while Alton was stationed in England. In their 69 ½ years of marriage, they never spent a night apart. Roma is survived by Alton; a loving daughter, Gillian (Tim) Lechmaier; three beloved grandchildren, Kimberly (Jim) Soat of Portland, Ore., Matthew (Lauren) Lechmaier of Davis, Calif., and Becca (Nathan) Wortinger of Madison; and three great-granddaughters, Ava, Elsie and Harper Soat whom she dearly loved and in whom she found so much joy. Also surviving Roma is her very favorite cousin, Norma in England, who was like a sister; sister-in-law, Mary Price; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Cindy, Jeff, John and Barb; as well as other family and many wonderful friends who have been so supportive these last few months. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane in 1982. Roma was an elegant, kind, generous and loving woman who volunteered selflessly and embraced her English heritage until the end. She was devoted to her family, very involved in her children’s lives and was known as Nana to many more than her grandchildren. Roma was someone who was genuinely interested in everyone she met. Everyone loved her! Many were lucky to receive her lemon curd tarts, which she made by the dozens at Christmastime. Roma was known for her baking and cooking and always wore pastels, especially pink. Despite her unexpectedly rapid demise, Roma was the first to let us all know that it was time for her to go and she made her exit from this world a little easier for those of us left behind to mourn her loss. We would like to thank Dr. Al Musa for his years of compassionate care. The staff at Attic Angel, as well as her “hospice girls”, Sara and Erica, who had a special place in mom’s heart. Also, many thanks to Agrace HospiceCare who took amazing care of Mom with such compassion during her last week. A special thanks to Dr. Kim Kinsley, who in a short time, became a very special person in all our lives. Mom loved you and we all appreciate your kind and loving manner in letting Mom leave this world with dignity and for considering her part of your team. You worked very well together. A celebration of Roma’s life will be held at MONONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Rd., Monona, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 with Rev. Brad Van Fossen presiding. Visitation will take place at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monona United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Many thanks to you Mom for the lasting memory of attending our last family wedding, only four days before entering hospice. We now appreciate how much pain you must have been in and you never let us know it. We will miss you Mom. And will love you always… your loving family. Roma, we have enjoyed the special times in the salon at Attic Angel with you. You would light up the salon just walking through the door. You always had your smile on and always complimenting everyone. Your sweet and kind ways will be missed by all of us in the salon. You were a beautiful lady both inside and out. May your family find peace in knowing how many lives you touched in your own special way.
Love, The Attic Angel Salon girls, Nadine, Sandy, Nicole & Gretchen

Alton: My sympathy to you and your family on the loss of Roma. She was a truly lovely lady and we enjoyed being with you both at Optimist Club outings. I know it will be hard for you being without her.
I am still grieving over the loss of George who died Dec of 2012.
I always loved her British accent and would find myself trying to speak that way as well.

Roma was one of the loveliest "ladies" we have known. We knew her primarily through the Frost Woods neighborhood, and the Optimist group where Al was a long-time member. We always enjoyed her friendliness and her British accent. She will be missed by many!
