Harvey William Powers

Powers, Harvey W. OREGON-Harvey W. Powers, age 72, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oregon, the son of Clyde and Verdie (Olson) Powers. Harvey was united in marriage to Stephany Jenness in Madison. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1964-1966, serving in Vietnam. Harvey graduated from Oregon High School in 1960 and worked for Madison Sand and Gravel for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Stephany; children, Wendy, Eileen and Lynn, all of Oregon; five sisters, Helen Kopp, Roberta (Ken) West, Doris (Lawrence) Schnabel, Mary Tofte and Virginia (Laurens) Schubert; one brother, Charles (Delores) Powers; father-in-law, Donald Jenness; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Audrey Jenness; two brothers-in-law, Larry Kopp and Clifford Tofte; nephew, Jerry Schubert; and niece, Linda Tofte. Funeral services will be held at FAITH EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 143 Washington St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, with the Rev. Karl Hermanson presiding. Burial with Military Honors will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, and also at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.
