Obituary

LePine, Kenneth M. “Ken” STOUGHTON- Kenneth M. “Ken” LePine, age 90, peacefully passed away with family present on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Ken was born on Jan. 26, 1924, in Elmwood, Ill., the son of Telesphore and Julia (Dunn) LePine. He lost his father at age 2. Ken was very independent at an early age, leaving high school to assist his mother by working various jobs. As a self- educated man, he became a successful cost accountant. Ken worked at Motorola in Chicago during the war time and helped to produce radios for the service men abroad. He married the love of his life, Betty Seamonson (from Stoughton WI), in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 17, 1945. Ken and Betty moved to Stoughton in 1949. There, he worked at Milprint, U.S. Rubber and Uniroyal for over 40 years and retired. After lovingly caring for his wife, Betty, during a 12-year illness, he lost her. To fill that loss he became a volunteer at Lake Kegonsa State Park, where he worked for over 22 years, helping the park with his accounting skills and mowing lawns. The park became the second love of his life and the staff became another family for him. Ken was a long-time member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. His children describe him as a polite man, loving, generous, care giving, compassionate and a person with a great sense of humor. Ken is survived by, his brother, Daniel (Danny) Collins; son, Kenneth J. (Beth) LePine of Stoughton; daughters, Diane (Dr. Steve) Kellogg of Oregon, and Janice LePine Stelzer of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Todd, Josh, Amy, Jill, Erin, Ryan, Brittany and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lauren, Joey, Naomi, Matthew, Bryce, Kailey, Parker, Bailey, Colten and Dexter; and the Illinois LePine’s, Debi Hayes and a special friend, Carol. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; and brother, William T. LePine. A Celebration of his Life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway. 51, Stoughton, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (with a short presentation at 12:30 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 6 , 2014. A luncheon will be served at the Father Healy room at ST. ANN’S CATHOLIC CHURCH immediately following. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Lake Kegonsa State Park Friends Group at 2405 Door Creek Road, Stoughton or the Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg ,WI. Special thanks to the fine care givers provided by Agrace HospiceCare and all his friends at the Sunrise Restaurant. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. I had talked with Ken many times while working with Janice, and was always impressed by his sense of humor and quiet composure. The true test of a man is how his children have turned out. Knowing his son Ken from working with him at WDNR, and Janice from RMT and Kestrel, I can only say that he must have been very proud of the way they turned out, and I am happy to say I am, too. He was a fine man, and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family. Treasure the memories and celebrate his life forever. Jim Nehls

We wish to extend our sympathy to the family; the obituary beautifully describes the unselfish, caring life of a wonderful father. Because we know Diane and Steve, and daughters, we especially send our hugs, but we will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers as you begin your grief walks. He has given you all a most beautiful example of how to live one's life. God bless his memory. Ann and Phil Dettwiler

Our memories of Ken are of special days at the lake, fish dinners at Halverson's and his warming and loving way towards family and friends. His quiet disposition was his strength and that strength will forever live on in those he loved. Our deepest sympathy to the family. Richard and Bobbi Schell
